Nanaimo Community Gardens

We stopped by the Nanaimo Community Gardens recently and it was great to see how much is going on there.
When we replace old cedar fences at Pacific Fence Co., we often end up with lumber that still has plenty of life left in it. Instead of sending it to the landfill, we bring some of those boards to the Nanaimo Community Gardens where they get reused for raised garden beds and other projects around the garden.
The garden is run by a local non profit that helps people learn how to grow their own food and plants. Whether someone is brand new to gardening or already has experience, they offer a welcoming place to learn and get involved.
It’s always nice to see old fence boards turned into something useful again. A lot of the reclaimed wood from fencing projects ends up helping build garden boxes where people grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
We’re glad we can support a local organization like this and keep some good lumber in use.
If you’re interested in gardening or just want to check out a great community space, the Nanaimo Community Gardens are definitely worth a visit.
